The story of a Nazi. Empty
PostSubject: The story of a Nazi.   The story of a Nazi. I_icon_minitimeThu Feb 05, 2009 6:31 pm

In this paper I will tell you about my choice for history day. He is a man partly responsible for World War II. Now, I know that when I say that, everyone’s gonna say, “Oh, hey! That kid’s doing Hitler!” But no, I assure you, I am conducting research on someone entirely different. My topic for history day is none other than the drafter of the Nuremberg Purity Laws. His name is Wilhelm Frick. I chose him as my history day topic for three reasons. The first of these reasons is that he is undoubtedly one of the main prominent Nazis of World War II, as his ‘accomplishments’ [I couldn’t think of a similar word that has a negative connotation] selected the very people the Nazis prosecuted. Now, the second reason is that, honestly, I’m not that into history. I may know who Abe Lincoln was, but I hardly know anyone they aren’t required to teach us about in school. And quite frankly, Wilhelm Frick was the only person I could think of. The reason for that is that, unlike the most, I managed to dig up what are know as ‘Industry Credentials’. Wilhelm Frick, I have come to know, Is my paternal 4th cousin, Once removed. Not too impressive, but there you have it. The main reason for my selection of Wilhelm Frick as my history day topic.
Of course, you may be wondering, “So, Yorick, how did you go about finding this out?” Well, when I heard about our history day project, my first thought was “Write what you know!” But, unfortunately, Shigeru Miyamoto, famous creator of the Mario video game franchise, hadn’t exactly changed the world. So, instead, I remembered that my dad’s family was from Germany, and that I was distantly related to an infamous Nazi. I asked my father who he was, and got a name. Then, I kind of procrastinated for a week or two, until the project was almost due. Then, in one weekend, I scoured the Internet, finding what little information I could on someone who, despite their major contribution to WWII, is apparently a virtual unknown. I eventually found a nice British teaching site, which had plenty of useful information. However, the other source I planned to use, World Book Online, wasn’t as easy to access. First, I had to get a bookmark from my teacher that had the school’s username and password on it. However, when I tried to use aforementioned password, it didn’t work. So then I had to go and ask my teacher about it. However, she had to ask my media specialist about it, and she was out of town that week. So I waited a week, then the week after that we only had one day, and because of a test in geometry and a project in, wouldn’t you believe it, Social studies, so I couldn’t ask that week. So when I get back the next week, I find out that really, the media specialist just got a number wrong. So, then, with information in hand, I march out to the computer, and start to type. Which, of course, is what you’re seeing now.
So, now, you’re probably wondering, aren’t you going to tell us about him? Well, actually, you probably aren’t considering this is following an outline that you have, most likely, read, and is thus following the exact same pattern as the other assignments that have undoubtedly been turned in to you. Anyway, Wilhelm Frick started his life in Alsenz, Bavaria, Germany. He went to school in Kaiserslautem, and then to college in Heidelberg. He was promoted to Bezirksamfassessor in 1907, and then Regeirungsassessor in 1917. He joined the Nazis in 1925, working for an insurance company. Frick was a Kriminalpolizei, but lost his title when he was arrested for the beer hall putsch. As the Nazis became more and more ruthless, Frick, then the head of the interior, helped to draft the Nuremberg Purity laws, which told which races the Nazis were to purge. He also drafted the Gleichshaltung laws, which consolidated the Nazi Empire. And there you go, everything I know about Wilhelm Frick.
not really a story, But I was conspicuous by my absence in this topic. So I posted my homework!
